I don’t know if anyone is aware of this but COX has once again increased the available speeds for their internet service. You can now get download speeds of 50Mbps (55Mbps w/ Powerboost) and uploads of 5Mbps (5.5Mbps w/ Powerboost). The Upload speeds aren’t a jump compared the the tier just below (Premier), it is only and increase of 0.5Mbps. The cost difference between Ultimate & Premier is $25. The main benefit to it is they give you 3 additional Dynamic IP addresses instead of just one. So if you are running a network out of your house they can be independant of your home LAN/Network. Also works if your trying to host a game but can’t because both machines are behind the same router/modem (Ghillie).
They have also upgraded their hardware to use the new DOCSIS 3.0 which in theory can allow up to 160Mbps down and 120Mbps up. The new hardware they are pushing is the Motorola SB6120 which also has a GB ethernet port.
Check it out.
